Have you ever noticed two prices on the shelf tag at the grocery store? Grocery stores generally show two prices on the shelf tag: the retail price and the unit price.
The retail price is the price you pay for each item.
The unit price is the price per pound, ounce, quart, etc. The unit price helps us compare the cost of similar products in different sized containers (think large and small cereal boxes), across brands and in different forms (think fresh, frozen and canned fruits and vegetables).
